I’ve Got the Eye of the Tiger

Hello lovely people! I am feeling pretty good and loving my summer. I hope everyone in the USA had a happy and safe Independence Day. Mine was pretty relaxing. Just a few thoughts I would like to share today.

If you read my last post, you’ll note I have been refocusing on what makes me happy these days. Putting myself first. Last week I got the itch to take a sexy photo or two, so I did and I started thinking about something. How do you start putting yourself first? Easy. Your voice.

Okay maybe not so easy. Actually really not easy at times. Particularly if you really worry about what the people around you think. Sometimes it is really hard to tell someone what they need to hear. It’s hard to tell others what we want. We want people to like us so we say “Yes” even though we really want to say “NO.”

At times, it may not be easy, but if you use your voice, you will be heard. And I don’t mean just once in awhile. Consistently and honestly (and mostly politely unless they’re being a complete imbecile) say what you mean with your voice. Family and friends can support and care for you but they are unable to reach out and give you what you want. They can’t read your mind. They can help in some ways but the only one who can truly help get you where you want to be is yourself. So do what I am doing or trying to do… Roar.

Honestly, this post is a shoutout to all the lovely ladies in my life that are going through hard times right now. I may not have gone through the same situation, but we all go through rough times and we sink. We need reminders that we are worth it. We deserve happiness. We deserve love. We deserve to do whatever makes our hearts glow. Don’t let anyone make you believe otherwise. Even when we make mistakes, keep going, and don’t stop. Continue following your heart and the rest will follow.

Made My Skin a Little Bit Thicker

A little bit of a rant or musing to start things off today followed by a special giveaway to celebrate reaching 50 blog posts! Read on to find out about the giveaway!

Lately I have been reminiscing on some of the events of the past year or so. Remembering the people that have moved in and out of my life and the lessons I have taken from them. It is incredible what an influence some people have had in such a short time while other lessons came from mistakes or taking a wrong turn. My morning has been a bit quieter than usual as I remember those lessons.

I know my last few posts have been a bit more upbeat and summery cheerful, so this post probably seems a bit less peppy. As a human, I can only be cheerful for so long before another obstacle gets thrown in my path that tries to knock me down. But you know what? I will keep fighting for the happiness I know I deserve. Maybe I need a day or two to get back into gear, but I will never stop swinging my bat at each ball that tries to strike me out. So my adventure for today took me to a baseball field in Chicago where I practiced focusing on hitting each ball out of the park and refocusing my mind on what is important. What is that you ask? Well… Me.

Now that might sound selfish, but consider this. If you spread yourself too thin, trying to please everyone you come across, you can never be happy because you have no time for yourself and what makes you happy. This was something I’ve had to learn and really, I’m still working on it. My health and happiness are first and foremost before I can be expected to help others. I will always make time for those who are closest to me; yet I have reevaluated who those people are and adjusted my priorities accordingly to give myself the best chance of smiling every day. Life is too short. Spend it doing what you love and with the people you love.

So, you’re probably wondering by now if i will just get to the clothes I’m wearing. Don’t fret!
