Wind howls like that of a lone Wolf on a moonless night,
Crying out for a long lost lover, companion, a friend.
Not a soul replies in the darkness,
Not a soul dares breathe.
Silence echoes loudly, defeaningly, devoid of the warmth of Life.
A shift in the wind stirs the trees,
Heralding something New with its song.
Spectral spirits float to and fro,
Dancing a dance only the unliving know.

Dear August, Tell Me That There’s Light
Light is slowly fading, ebbing away like the tide, leaving a wordless melancholy. Seasons changing, shifting, urging me to slumber and rest with the setting sun. I close my eyes on the light. When they open I hope and pray for autumn’s quiet yet passionate colors to unfold.
Are the shadows growing? Are my eyes tricking me? Something has changed. Was it me? A quiet calm approaches and beckons me into its embrace. Who calls to me now with such familiarity?
Every parting is bittersweet. My old friend, I feel you near once more. Come closer and leave the kiss I truly long for.

I Was Raised By Wolves Taught to Fight Until the Death
Night draws closer as I wander amongst the shadows of the room. A soft hum of anticipation buzzing under your skin. Tingles, hair standing up on the back of your neck, pulse beating hard and fast.
Fear keeps you frozen in place as I drift near; your breath catches in excitement as I inhale your scent. With an exhale, my cigarette’s smoke mists across your face. You fight a cough. I arch a brow.
With a lazy heeled turn, I make my way back to the smooth wood desk piled high with manuscripts with hidden secrets you yearn to glean. Perhaps one day you’ll learn them. Perhaps one day you’ll pass them along to your children.
With a predatory smile from my lips as I lounge back in my leather chair, cigarette holder held aloft, you gulp and think to yourself that perhaps you may never see another night again.

So Pull Me Up From Down Below ‘Cause I’m Underneath the Undertow
As the waves crash upon me, Mother Nature’s power pushes me onward, into the Ocean’s depths then up again toward the shore. I call out for help, for someone, but the waves crash against me again, pushing me under. I’m on my own, fighting the tides, battling to keep my head above water and watching for a stray boat, another swimmer. Is there anyone out there?
I surrender. Letting go out of the past, my present, and future. I’ll fight on, following wherever the current takes me.

And No Rivers and No Lakes Can Put the Fire Out
She was bewitching to behold. Fire in her veins glowing righteous blue so bright you had to look away, yet dared not turn your gaze for fear of missing every stunning glimpse. Every step she took was a dance fit for the stage, only her stage a forest her heart dwelled in. Dancing partners the trees. Owls and crickets her orchestra. Moonlight kissed her skin as her soul shone in the darkness of Night’s Shadows.
When she broke into a beautiful disaster, her fire threatening to tear all asunder, her body burnt to ash floating upon a breeze. Pain fueled her passions. Darkness embraced her being; she reveled in it, craved it, cherished every aching breath. Love was her power; even broken, her heart overflowed like the sea at high tide. Like a phoenix she’d rise again, glowing brighter than every Time before.
Fire consumed her, yet she’d always survive, weathering every storm that came her way.
