Hello my lovelies! It seems my witchy side is persisting as we get closer to Samhain and the Day of the Dead. I seem to have acquired the gift of divination for a time. Or maybe it has something more to do with this Twisted Hunt that’s been going on all September. Haven’t heard of it? Well let me tell you a little story…

Twisted Hunt is well known as the hardest hunt in SL. Its Organizers are evil and the merchants are ebil. And no that was NOT a typo. Ebilness is reserved for the truly twisted of twisted people and fair warning, you’ll lose your mind and hair on this hunt. Merchants are allowed to use only a certain number of visible decoys but who’s to say they won’t bury a million cubes in the walls and rename their building parts? In an effort to ward of would-be cheaters, merchants are very crafty and downright wicked at times in hiding their prize cubes. So why go through all the trouble for a little cube? Because Twisted Hunt has arguably some of the best creators on the grid offering FREE prize hunt cubes. Merchants like Mishmash Fusion..

The gown and blindfold I am wearing come as a set of standard mesh sizes as the main hunt prize for this hunt at Mishmash Fusion. Spirits sending you visions of the Apocalypse? Randomly spouting prophecies worthy of the Ancient Greek oracles? You’re going to need this gown! The beautiful rich fabric will keep you warm as you scry in crystal balls by moonlight and read fortunes in animal guts. The blindfold comes in two versions, one of which is unrigged. I’m wearing the LQ version. I did have to squish my boobs into my dress but that was because I wanted to fit in a size M. Other than that, no shape modifications. Find this lovely gown before the event ends! My necklace and earrings are from Sn@tch and come with easy to use resize scripts. This hunt prize is simply lovely and is a great addition to a witch or seer’s wardrobe.

I also wanted to share the cool crystals and big stone looking thing behind me. The crystal clusters are the Twisted Hunt gift from Attitude is An Artform. These beauties are very low prim and can be linked together without making the prim count multiply like rabbits. The stone piece is carved with old Celtic symbols for the five elements; earth, fire, water, air, and spirit. When clicked, a smokey mist is emitted from the circle as spirits are called forth. And the Stars Look Very Different Today

A week ago, one of my idols left this world for the next. The next morning text I had received from a friend late Sunday night was one of comfort but it was also how I found out the sad news about David Bowie’s death. I was both shocked and yet not.

Here was a man who lived every moment creating art in everything he did. Music, film, and a fashion icon, David Bowie has always been an inspiration through his constant innovation. My first exposure to his work was when I was four years old and I watched Labyrinth in which he starred as Jareth, the Goblin King. I was entranced. Ever after his music has inspired and moved me in ways no other artist could. His passing is loss to the world but he lives on through his work.

To honor the Starman, everyone has held a tribute of their own. In SL there’s been tribute concerts and events held in his memory. I’m no DJ. I’m not a host. I’m not a designer. But I am a fan who desires to remember this legend in only the ways she can. Listening to his music and writing a short blog post.

Fallen Gods has set up a vendor of David Bowie skins, gestures and sound bits, and his iconic lightening bolt makeup for free. Not sure how long this will be up so grab them while you can.

I wanted to take a moment to think about the sacrifice our veterans make everyday. A moment of silence, a time to reflect, a minute to be grateful for what veterans have done for us. By the time this is posted and read, it will no longer be Veterans’ Day for the reader but that doesn’t mean there is not time for reflection.

Many members of my family are or were in the U.S. Armed Forces.  My father has been in the National Guard since before I can even remember anything else. Although I do not recall all the instances he had to be away from home because of his job, there have been periods of time I do remember him being away for several weeks to a few months for training. In fact, he is currently finishing up a month and a half training program to be eligible for his next possible promotion.  I miss him terribly and yet I know I am one of the lucky ones. He has not been called in for active duty. He has not been deployed to Iraq or Iran. But my aunt has. Other members of my family have been gone for over a year many times and the separation was brutal on their children. I thank the powers that be that they have all come home safely. Not everyone is so lucky. Our veterans sacrifice themselves and their families to defend our freedom and the values we hold dear. Men and women have died serving their county and there is never enough appreciation for their service.

Thank you, Veterans. Wherever you live, if you’ve served your country to protect Freedom, you are courageous and deserve all the respect in the world. Thank you family of veterans. Hardship is not unfamiliar to you, and you are as brave as any soldier deserving of the same amount of respect and gratitude.  Veterans living or passed on, we are forever in your debt for the sacrifices you continue to make for the sake of your country.

Wake Me Up…When September Ends…

Mid-October, and I’m already wishing time would slow down so I can enjoy my favorite season longer. Which is why Green Day is on my iPod replay. Nothing suits nostalgia and reflection quite like their song “Wake Me Up When September Ends.” If you’re looking for something to do this season, I’m bringing you more peeks into the hunt gifts laid out for the Autumn Love Hunt today. I could not decide on what outfit I liked most for this post. Each outfit is fun in its own way. The first dress is a flirty little number by GET FROCKED and I paired it with the Zeva Red heels by Lindy Mainshop. I also painted my nails with [Rad Designz] Fall nails for Slink and Belleza. I love the color options of these nails and the detail is stunning. The second dress I tried on is by Mishmash Fusion and I will admit I am a purple addict. This dress is darling and comes with matching flats that make me want to skip through leaves!

Tube top, short skirt, and high heel boots, **Cheeky Parrot Boutique** has a cute outfit that is perfect for lunch with the girls while bustling about town. The last piece I wore is a plaid shirt by WICKED. It fits so nicely and looks great with jeans. Simple, yet sophisticated, this top gives a nice mood boost, especially if you’re exploring those creepy haunted houses this time of year. Yikes! But not to worry, =EC Designs= has two gachas for this hunt. One of these gachas gives you a cute batfriend to rez that follows you about. I’m a bit of a scaredy cat so I decided to get a few more batfriends to take with me!

Call Me…

This post is inspired by the tragedy of the shooting at Umpqua Community College on October 1st and the heroics of those who strove to stop it. I also drew inspiration from the Norse legends that those who die honorably are brought to Asgard and Valhalla in the arms of a Valkyrie. I feel that all those killed in this tragic manner ought to be remembered for the good they did and hoped for in this world rather than the terrible way their lives ended. In these pictures I take on the form of a Valkyrie swooping down to Earth for the souls of the honorably fallen. Despite our differences, we are all human. This event brought much sadness yet again into the world. My thoughts go out to the UCC community.

Looking for a Breath of Life

Today I needed to spread my wings and take a stroll with a bit of magic. I’ve been following the blogging elf’s blog and decided to check out the quaint Shire as she suggested. I was not disappointed.  Grass covered, rolling hills, and cute homes for rent create a tranquil sanctuary.

We ❤ RP has fantastic items as always and I wanted to share more of the goodies from the current round that I’m wearing. I already blogged about the lovely hair Navi by Pr!tty, so this post is focused on the corset, capris legs, and deer skin tattoo.

First up, the Vampy Corset Bodysuit is really well made and detailed. I love that it’s broken up into three pieces to allow the wearer to find the best fit possible with the given sizes. This is perfect for those of us that like to show off our curves. A Hud comes with the corset that allows the wearer to change the metal parts color for easy outfit coordination.

The Capri Legs were a surprising find for me. I’ve not been drawn to faun type things before but they looked fun and I’m a curious cat, so why not? There are several color versions and the legs come with a Hud as well to change between silver or gold metal. Only modification I had to make was less leg muscle to fit within the metal band

Oh Deer.. by [the Skinnery] is a delightful tattoo that blends well and looks just like a young doe’s coat. Paired with the right accessories, this tattoo could make for some nice cat spots too in my opinion.  Deer, faun, cat; whatever the case, I love the detailing of this tattoo which covers the face, arms, chest, and legs. Included with the system layer tattoo are appliers for Maitreya, Belleza, Slink Physique, and LeLutka Mesh Head.

I Feel Pr!tty…

I wanted to post something earlier but I got busy packing for a trip so I’m writing on the go. I just had to share a great find on hair. Thank the stars for hotel wifi and Flickr uploads!

One of my favorite Secondlife shopping events is We ❤ RP. It’s an incredible almost month long event that is basically a fantasy/medievalish market. Everything is top notch quality design and geared toward those who roleplay. Although I will admit I buy the pretty Arcadia gowns  just to feel like a princess, I always find several other items I can’t pass up. From gowns to armor, hair and skin, furniture and poses; this fair has it all. Even Jian’s goats.

So, hair… I’ve found the cuuuuutest hair at We ❤ RP made by Pr!tty. Navi is a gorgeous long hair draped over one shoulder with a  woven firefly branch headpiece which adds the perfect touch of whimsy. (Bonus: The headpiece comes in two styles which can be worn with other hair!) At 25% off while at the fair, this hair is a steal and a must-have. I also have to gush over the shoes I found by Pure Poison. I’m a mom in SL and currently carrying baby #4 (Yes, I enjoy role playing being pregnant and having babies with my Lycan hubby) so I’m constantly on the lookout for cute flat shoes. Made for Slink, Maitreya, Belleza, and TheMeshProject feet, these sandals elegantly wrap up your calves without feeling the least bit bulky.
