Naked to Nothing More Than Who We Are

For today’s post, I decided to take on one of Strawberry Singh’s #SecondLifeChallenges.  I’ve been in a somewhat reflective mood since my grand grandmother passed away about a week ago and I thought this might be a good way to ponder life and get back into blogging more. First a word about today’s picture. The image for this post is my Fallen Gods Inc. 2017 Gods and Goddesses Photo Contest entry, the skin being the participation prize from last’s years photo contest. My love for this look is only surpassed by my surprise and awe at the luck I had in getting this shot. Go check out all the other pretty pictures in the temple here!

Now on to the challenge… Seven facts about my SecondLife avatar or SecondLife that may not be obvious to any of you, my lovely readers.

  1. I really can not stand sl voice. Besides the fact that I despise my own voice, it seems that people who use mic tend to forget to keep people who type included in the conversation. That and the quality of mic sound in sl varies by person AND I am hearing impaired. So, I dislike sl voice immensely.
  2. I have had two sl partnerships in my four years and four months on sl. Both of which lasted over the average of four months for sl relationships. The longer of the two relationships lasted two years.
  3. I am seldom without my jerboa tail. The only time I take it off is for blog posts at times or for roleplay. For a short time I was never without wings but I always return to neko.
  4. I have only roleplayed in Game of Thrones sims. The few sims I have roleplayed on have been places my sl parents roleplayed at for Game of Thrones because I don’t like to roleplay in sims I don’t anyone and because I only wanted to roleplay Game of Thrones.
  5. My first and only mesh head is my current one, the LeLutka Bento Simone, courtesy of the fabulous Sophia Harlow.
  6. I really don’t like changing my shape and skin. It throws me off. I only do so for roleplay characters or artistic photos. I’ll change my hair frequently but not my skin or shape.
  7. I have absolutely no idea how to landscape or edit terrain in sl. Zero. I’ve never owned land where I could experiment with it.

A week ago, one of my idols left this world for the next. The next morning text I had received from a friend late Sunday night was one of comfort but it was also how I found out the sad news about David Bowie’s death. I was both shocked and yet not.

Here was a man who lived every moment creating art in everything he did. Music, film, and a fashion icon, David Bowie has always been an inspiration through his constant innovation. My first exposure to his work was when I was four years old and I watched Labyrinth in which he starred as Jareth, the Goblin King. I was entranced. Ever after his music has inspired and moved me in ways no other artist could. His passing is loss to the world but he lives on through his work.

To honor the Starman, everyone has held a tribute of their own. In SL there’s been tribute concerts and events held in his memory. I’m no DJ. I’m not a host. I’m not a designer. But I am a fan who desires to remember this legend in only the ways she can. Listening to his music and writing a short blog post.
